Maharashtra Tableau Tops Republic Day Parade 2026 Results, Wins First Place for ‘Ganeshotsav: A Symbol of Aatmanirbharta’
New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence on Tuesday announced the results of the Best Marching Contingents and Best Tableaux showcased during the Republic Day Parade 2026, with Maharashtra’s tableau securing the top position among states and Union Territories.
Maharashtra clinched first place for its tableau themed ‘Ganeshotsav: A Symbol of Aatmanirbharta’, which highlighted the cultural, social and economic significance of the festival as a reflection of self-reliance. Jammu & Kashmir and Kerala followed Maharashtra in second and third positions respectively, with tableaux showcasing handicrafts and folk dances and Water Metro with 100% Digital Literacy, respectively.
Among the marching contingents, the Indian Navy was adjudged the Best Marching Contingent among the three Armed Services, while the Delhi Police won the top honour in the Central Armed Police Forces and other auxiliary forces category.
In the Central Ministries and Departments category, the Ministry of Culture won the Best Tableau award for its theme ‘Vande Mataram – The Soul Cry of a Nation’. Special prizes were awarded to the Central Public Works Department for ‘Vande Mataram – Commemoration of 150 Years’ and the dance group ‘Vande Mataram: The Eternal Resonance of India’.
The results of the Popular Choice Awards, based on an online poll conducted on the MyGov portal, were also declared. The Assam Regiment emerged as the most popular marching contingent among the three Services, while the CRPF topped the CAPFs category.
In the Popular Choice tableau category, Gujarat secured first place for ‘Mantra of Swadeshi – Self-Reliance – Freedom: Vande Mataram’, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Department of School Education and Literacy won the popular choice award among Central Ministries for its tableau on National Education Policy 2020, showcasing India’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat.
The awards were decided by three separate panels of judges constituted to assess the overall performance, creativity and thematic presentation of the contingents and tableaux at the Republic Day Parade 2026.
