Weather Alert Maharashtra For February 7: Rising Temperatures Signal Early Heatwave, IMD Issues Advisory
Maharashtra is witnessing a significant change in weather conditions, with winter gradually retreating and temperatures beginning to rise across the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dry and warm weather is expected to prevail on February 7, with no rainfall forecast anywhere in the state. In several regions, minimum temperatures are likely to increase by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, leading to noticeable daytime heat.
The IMD has cautioned that clear to partly cloudy skies will dominate, resulting in strong sunshine and warmer conditions throughout the day. Citizens are advised to take precautions as the state moves towards early summer-like weather.
In the Konkan region, skies will range from clear to partly cloudy. Maximum temperatures are expected between 28 and 30°C, while minimum temperatures may hover between 22 and 25°C. Mumbai is likely to experience hot and humid conditions during the day, with relatively warm nights. Coastal areas may see strong winds, but the possibility of rainfall remains negligible. Residents are advised to stay hydrated due to rising humidity levels.
Western Maharashtra will experience dry and sunny weather. Pune’s maximum temperature is expected to range between 29 and 32°C, while minimum temperatures may stay between 15 and 18°C. In areas like Solapur, daytime temperatures could touch 33°C. While the dry spell may benefit crops, farmers and outdoor workers are advised to avoid prolonged exposure during peak afternoon hours.
North Maharashtra will also remain dry, with maximum temperatures between 29 and 32°C and minimum temperatures between 18 and 22°C. Some locations may experience light morning haze, especially in the Khandesh region.
Marathwada and Vidarbha will see hotter and drier conditions, with maximum temperatures reaching 34°C in some districts. Overall, February 7 marks the beginning of a gradual transition from winter to summer across Maharashtra, raising concerns of an early heatwave.
