Mumbai, February 7, 2026: Mumbai witnessed tense moments on Friday morning after an IndiGo aircraft experienced a technical malfunction during landing, putting over 220 passengers on board on edge. The aircraft, however, landed safely at Mumbai airport due to the alert handling by the flight crew, and no injuries were reported.

According to sources, the incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 2157, operated using an Airbus A321neo aircraft. The problem occurred during the final phase of landing when the aircraft’s landing gear lever reportedly malfunctioned.

Sources said the automatic system responsible for deploying the landing gear failed to function as expected. As a result, the pilots switched to manual mode to lower the wheels and complete the landing safely.

Following touchdown, technical teams carried out a detailed inspection and rectified the issue.

After the necessary checks and repairs, the aircraft was cleared to operate its remaining scheduled flights for the day. IndiGo has not issued an official statement on the incident so far.

The episode comes close on the heels of another aviation-related technical alert earlier this month, when an Air India Boeing 787-8 flight bound for Bengaluru from London’s Heathrow Airport had to abort take-off due to a fuel control switch malfunction. In that case, the flight was halted as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety.

Last year, a similar fuel control switch issue was also reported in an Air India aircraft that later crashed in Ahmedabad, raising broader concerns over recurring technical faults in aircraft systems.
