Updated key released after students flagged major errors in April 5 Shift 2 exam; challenge window open with set fee and deadline

What Led To The Revision

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the provisional answer key for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 after students raised concerns over errors in the Chemistry section.

The issue was reported in the April 5 (Shift 2) exam, where candidates pointed out multiple incorrect answers soon after the key was released. The complaints gained attention as several students claimed that parts of the Chemistry answer key were completely wrong.

19 Questions Corrected

Following the review, NTA corrected errors in 19 questions from the Chemistry section.

The agency examined the objections raised by students and updated the provisional answer key accordingly. The revised version has now been uploaded on the official JEE Main website for candidates to check.

Revised Answer Key Now Available

Candidates can log in to the official portal using their credentials to view the updated answer key and their recorded responses.

If required, they can still raise objections against the revised key within the given timeframe. The final answer key will be prepared after reviewing all valid challenges.

How To Challenge The Answer Key

Students who wish to challenge any answer can do so by paying a non-refundable fee of ₹200 per question.

The challenge window was open from April 11 to April 13, 2026, until 11:50 pm. Payments could be made through debit card, credit card, or net banking. Submissions made after the deadline will not be accepted.

To raise a challenge, candidates need to log in using their application number and password, select the question they want to challenge, upload supporting documents in a single PDF, and complete the payment process.

After reviewing all objections, subject experts will finalise the answer key.

The JEE Main 2026 Session 2 results will be prepared based on this final version. Individual candidates will not be informed about whether their specific objections were accepted or rejected.

The revision highlights the importance of accuracy in competitive exams where even a single error can impact thousands of students.

With lakhs of aspirants depending on JEE Main results for admissions, timely correction of mistakes and transparency in the evaluation process remain crucial.
