Railway Block Disrupts Services Between Pune And North India; Several Trains Cancelled, Routes Diverted
Pune, May 16, 2026: Rail passengers travelling from Pune towards Vidarbha and North India are likely to face major inconvenience this weekend as several trains have been cancelled and many others diverted due to railway infrastructure work on the Daund-Manmad route.
The disruption comes after Central Railway’s Pune Division initiated a non-interlocking block between Akolner, Ahmednagar and Nimbalk stations for the ongoing doubling work on the Daund-Manmad railway corridor. The block will remain in effect from May 15 to May 19.

According to railway officials, the work is being carried out to improve operational safety and increase train speed on the route. However, the temporary block has significantly impacted long-distance train operations.
Several trains have either been cancelled completely or diverted through alternate routes.
Among the major cancellations, the Pune-Nagpur Express will remain cancelled between May 15 and May 18. The Pune-Gorakhpur Special has been cancelled in both directions from May 15 to May 19. Pune-Danapur Special services scheduled for May 16 and 17 have also been cancelled.
Additionally, the Dadar-Sainagar Shirdi train will not operate on May 16 and 17, while the Jabalpur-Pune Special has been cancelled on May 17 and 18. The Ahmednagar-Beed DMU service has also been suspended for a few days.
Railways have also diverted several long-distance trains. The Hadapsar-Nanded Express will now operate via Daund, Kurduwadi and Latur Road. The Hazrat Nizamuddin-Yeshwantpur Express will be routed through Manmad, Kalyan, Panvel and Lonavala before reaching Pune.
Similarly, the Pune-Amravati Express has been diverted through the Latur Road route. The Pune-Gorakhpur and Pune-Banaras Express trains will now run via Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan and Nashik Road, resulting in cancellation of stops at Ahmednagar and Kopargaon stations.
Some trains will also operate with revised timings. The Pune-Howrah Duronto Express will depart 30 minutes late on May 18, while the Ghazipur City-Hadapsar Special is expected to run nearly four hours behind schedule. The Hazrat Nizamuddin-Vasco Express will also face operational delays at multiple locations during its journey.
The railway administration has appealed to passengers to check train schedules before travelling and verify updates through the official railway website and the NTES app before planning their journey.
