Pune : Katraj-Kondhwa Road work consultant slapped with notice over delay in submission of plan
PMC has issued a show-cause to the consultant for the Katraj-Kondhwa Road project due to the late submission of a service line management plan.
As part of the project, the water supply pipes and cables, along with other service lines, will be moved in order to make room for a grade separator.
According to a senior PMC official, the consultant has not given PMC the plan despite repeated requests. It is negatively affecting the project’s progress. The administration has the option to put the consultant on a blacklist if the response is deemed unsatisfactory.
Activists claim that the administration’s heavy reliance on consultants for civic projects is detrimental to the company’s ability to operate. To ease traffic congestion at Khadi Machine Chowk, the PMC widened a section of the road. There are now two lanes accessible from Khadi Machine Chowk and Kanha restaurant. Additionally, the widening will aid in improving traffic congestion on Katraj-Kondhwa Road.
An activist from Pune stated that the PMC employs a large number of skilled engineers. Why are consultants required for nearly all tasks? So far, PMC has spent about Rs 48 crore of public funds on the project.
