Aadhaar cardholders are urged to update their details for free before the September 14 deadline. Cards issued over 10 years ago require revalidation with proof of identity and address. After this date, a fee of ₹50 will be charged for updates.

With many Aadhaar cards now over a decade old, the Indian government is encouraging cardholders to update their information. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has set September 14 as the final date for free updates. Beyond this deadline, a ₹50 fee will apply for any changes.

If your Aadhaar card was issued over 10 years ago and hasn’t been updated, you’ll need to submit proof of identity and address to ensure its validity. Follow these steps to update your Aadhaar details online:

How to Update Aadhaar Online

  1. Visit the UIDAI Portal: Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  2. Verify Your Details: Check the identity and address details displayed in your profile.
  3. Confirm Accuracy: If the details are correct, click on the tab ‘I verify that the above details are correct.’
  4. Select Documents: Choose the identity and address documents you want to submit from the drop-down menus.
  5. Upload Documents: Upload the selected documents, ensuring each file is less than 2 MB and in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format.
  6. Submit for Update: Review and submit your documents to update your Aadhaar details.

For updates to biometrics, name, photograph, or mobile number, you’ll need to visit your nearest UIDAI-authorized center.

Ensure your Aadhaar details are up-to-date before September 14 to avoid the ₹50 fee and maintain the validity of your card.
