Advanced Facility for Computer Training, Research, and Development to Be Built in Bhosari, Announces IT Ministry
Pimpri, June 12, 2024 – An ultra-modern and well-equipped building will be constructed on 10 acres in Sector 12 of Bhosari for the significant expansion of computer training, research, development, and educational facilities, informed Sanjay Bhondve, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
On behalf of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, this advanced building will be erected on the land of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority in Bhosari. Joint Secretary Sanjay Bhondve shared this information during his visit to inspect the site today.
Retired Colonel and Director of Corporate Strategy A.K. Nath and Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Pradeep Jambhle Patil welcomed him. City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Deputy Commissioner Ravikiran Ghodke, Anna Bodade, Public Relations Officer Prafulla Puranik, senior officers from C-DAC Pune, and officials and employees of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority were present on this occasion.
This land in the rapidly developing township designated for information technology will be strategically secured. In the first phase of the expansion, a comprehensive educational facility will be established. In this state-of-the-art facility, students will be able to take various C-DAC IT courses in specialized and high-level technology areas such as VLSI, HPC, Big Data, AI, etc. This development will help expand C-DAC and provide students with opportunities to learn in high-level skill development areas. Currently, 650 students can study at the C-DAC Advanced Computing Training School (ACTS) in Pune. Due to the high demand for these courses, plans are underway to increase this capacity to 1,000 to 1,200 students.
In the subsequent phase, C-DAC plans to establish advanced research and development facilities with high-end data centers, providing indigenous high-performance computing facilities. This facility will include a dedicated advanced R&D lab to develop next-generation supercomputers, interconnects, and related technologies.
The establishment of advanced educational and research facilities in Chikhali will be a significant milestone in C-DAC’s ongoing commitment to excellence in technology education and research.
The upcoming building will feature modern architecture, ventilation, a well-equipped parking area, a helipad, a drone pad, a solar system, and an eco-friendly environment. This initiative will offer high-level academic courses and advanced research opportunities, which will be beneficial in shaping the future of advanced technology in the country, said Joint Secretary Sanjay Bhondve.
