Air India marks International Women’s Day with 15 All-Women Crew Flights

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express operated over 15 all-female flights on March 8. The airline’s CEO, Campbell Wilson, highlighted the week-long celebration of women’s achievements and their contributions to gender equality in aviation. Additionally, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore granted approval for the merger of Air India and Vistara, a key step toward optimization and synergy between the two entities.

International Women’s Day activities included special offerings for female passengers, such as free seat selection and priority boarding services on Air India Express. The Flying Returns loyalty program provided women members with an exclusive opportunity to fast-track to the Silver Edge Club, offering benefits like additional reward points, complimentary upgrades, and priority check-in services.

Air India expressed its commitment to women’s empowerment, with more than 15% of its cockpit crew being women, making it one of the airlines with the largest number of female pilots.

The workforce at Air India consists of 51% women, reflecting a positive shift in gender representation since the airline’s return to the Tata group.

As part of the celebration, the airline organized week-long programs, including webinars and live sessions, aimed at inspiring women employees across the network. Air India emphasized the increased participation of women in various spheres of its activities, showcasing a positive trend in gender diversity within the organization.
