After intense battles in the Pawar family stronghold of Baramati, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is now focusing its efforts on Pune city in preparation for the upcoming Maharashtra civic elections. These elections, which have faced delays due to legal challenges related to seat reservations, are expected to be held later this year.

Rajya Sabha MP Sunetra Pawar, Ajit Pawar’s wife, has been in discussions with senior party leaders and former corporators to finalize the party’s strategy. Recently, she conducted a meeting with former Pune corporators, emphasizing the need to engage with every household in the city to promote the NCP’s development agenda under Ajit Pawar’s leadership.

Sunetra’s son, Parth Pawar, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Maval but lost, also attended the meeting. Senior figures such as sitting legislator Chetan Tupe and former legislator Sunil Tingre were present, outlining plans to bolster the party’s presence in Pune through development initiatives and public outreach.

Meanwhile, NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule has also been actively involved in reviewing civic election preparations for her faction’s Pune unit. The party is set to meet with the Pune Municipal Corporation administration soon to address pressing local issues.
