Vidip Dilip Jadhav, the personal security officer (PSO) of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, was laid to rest late Wednesday night in his native village in Satara district. In a heart-wrenching moment, Jadhav’s young son performed the final rites, as family members, relatives and locals gathered to bid him a tearful farewell.
Jadhav was among the five people killed in the tragic chartered aircraft crash in Baramati on Wednesday morning, which also claimed the life of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The sudden loss has left his family and colleagues in deep shock.
Vidip Jadhav had been serving as Ajit Pawar’s PSO for the past four years. He joined the Mumbai Police in 2009 and was attached to the Protection Department, where he handled sensitive security assignments. Before his posting with Pawar, he had served in areas such as Naigaon and Dadar.

He is survived by his wife Sandya, their daughter and son, and his parents. Friends and neighbours remember him as a disciplined officer and a devoted family man who balanced demanding professional responsibilities with deep personal bonds.
Jadhav resided with his family in Surya Nagar near Vitawa in Kalwa. Neighbours recalled the family’s close-knit nature and cordial relationship with the community. Despite his hectic schedule and frequent travel due to duty, residents said Jadhav remained humble and respectful, while his wife was actively involved in neighbourhood life.
Final rites of Ajit Pawar were held today at 11 am at the Vidya Pratishthan ground in Baramati with full state honours. His mortal remains were kept at the venue to allow citizens to pay their final respects.
Several senior leaders are expected to attend the funeral, and the Maharashtra government has announced three days of state mourning following Pawar’s death.
