Pune: Amidst the confusion over the allocation of reserved coaches to women, Pune Metro officials announced on Thursday that all stations will get rid of the ‘women only’ signs.

As per further information, the decision comes at a time when there is a discrepancy between the ‘women only’ sign boards at different stations. When the Metro goes from Ruby Hall Clinic station to Vanaz station, the signboards on some platforms say ‘women only’ for the first coach, and ‘women only’ on others for the last coach.

Dr Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director, Public Relations And Administration, Pune Metro, stated that the ‘women only’ signs will be taken down from all stations. At present, there is no need to reserve tickets for female passengers as there is low footfall.

No survey on footfall of men and women passengers has been conducted yet. However, Metro will plan for this at a later stage. Coaches will be reserved for women at some point in the future.
