A woman shares her distressing ordeal after hiring a fraudulent taxi at Bengaluru Airport, stating, “Almost Got Trafficked.”

A woman in Bengaluru faced a terrifying ordeal at Kempegowda International Airport when she got into what she believed was a legitimate Ola cab. Unfortunately, the driver was a fraudster.

In a post on X, the woman detailed that she had booked an Ola cab from the airport’s pickup area on Friday after landing at 10:30 pm. However, a driver who had not been assigned to her came up and offered to drive her to her destination.

She hesitated at first but eventually got in, only to find out that the driver hadn’t asked for the required OTP or used the Ola app. Instead, he instructed her to input her destination into his Maps app, stating that his official app was not working properly.

“almost got trafficked/raped/looted/assaulted by a random cab driver who was let in by @BLRAirport in the Ola pickup station & impersonated to be one at terminal 1 of BLR airport at 10:30 pm had I not called 112, I’d not be here typing this,” said her post.

While driving, the driver insisted on charging more than the agreed fare. When she declined, he proposed switching her to another vehicle for the original price.

Sensing danger, the woman requested to be taken back to the airport pickup area. The driver disregarded her pleas, pulled over at a gas station, and insisted on ₹500 for fuel.

She was alert and leveraged the emergency number 112. Also, she was quick to inform family members. The police was quick to act and it took them only 20 minutes to reach the location.

X users expressed their thoughts. Reads one comment, “When he was not taking OTP, common sense is that this is not your cab..A car number is also assigned while booking…not seeing the car number and sitting in cab is just stupid…then again common sense is not common.” Yet another comment was, “I’m really sorry you went through a stressful situation.

But please don’t share a person’s picture in public and use words like “trafficked/raped/assaulted” when he never insinuated anything like that. Most people would share this around without reading the whole story.”
