Actor crosses from Spain to Morocco, proving age is no barrier to endurance

At the age of 60, Milind Soman has achieved another major fitness milestone by successfully completing a challenging open-water swim across the Strait of Gibraltar, one of the toughest swimming routes in the world.

Soman swam approximately 15 kilometres from Tarifa in Spain to the coast of Morocco on May 1. The Gibraltar Strait is known for its strong currents, unpredictable tides, and busy ship traffic, making the crossing both physically and mentally demanding.

Sharing his experience on social media, Soman described the swim as “beautiful” while also highlighting the tough and ever-changing conditions of the sea.

This is not his first long-distance swim this year. In April, he completed a 20-kilometre sea swim in Goa, which took nearly eight hours. Earlier, during Holi, he also took part in another long swim in Goa along with his wife, Ankita Konwar.

Known for his passion for endurance sports, Soman continues to participate in long-distance running and swimming events, adding yet another achievement to his inspiring fitness journey in 2026.
