Pune: To protest & highlight the police action against fasting activists demanding reservations for the Maratha community in Jalna, the Maratha Kranti Morcha has begun Bandh in many areas of Pune city such as Aundh, Baner, Balewadi, Mhalunge, Sus, and more.

Nana Walke, organizer & member of Maratha Kranti Morcha said, “The reason for this Bandh is to protest against the police lathi charge on our community people during our peaceful protest in Jalna. We have 5 to 6 appeals and wants that must be addressed immediately.

· Maratha community must be given reservations without any discrimination

· If any person has a proper caste certificate such as of OBC etc. then reservation must be given to that person

· The police officers, who hit & issued lathi charge on our peaceful protestors in Jalna, must be suspended immediately

· Appropriate compensation in the form of money must be given to our Sarathi Institution

· Census must be conducted in Maharashtra

· Marathi Vasatigruha must be built in Baner & Balewadi

Also, Maratha community people are being arrested & caught in crimes which are not true most of the time. Hence, it is our request to the police to completely investigate the crimes and, if a Maratha person is found to be accused, then and then only he/she must be arrested.

We announce complete support to Manoj Jarange Patil who has sat on a hunger strike.”

Around 500 to 1000 people had joined this Bandh in Pune city.

The Bandh began at Parihar Chowk in Aundh at 10:30 a.m. It has been headed towards other areas such as Baner, Balewadi, Pashan, Mhalunge, Sus, Bopodi, Sutar Wadi, and further.

The Bandh is supported in other parts of the city as well like Babu Genu area near Mandai in Budhwar Peth etc.
