Baner Balewadi Sus Mhalunge citizens await for permanent solution to increasing water issues

Pune : Member of legislative Assembly (MLA) of Kothrud constituency and Bharatiya Janata Party state president Chandrakant Patil held a meeting regarding various issued faced by the citizens living in the area of Baner, Balewadi, Pashan, Sus and Mhalunge area.

The meeting was organized by social worker and former corporator Amol Balwadkar at his Baner based office. MLA Chandrakant Patil was heading the chairperspn for such meeting along with Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kumar hold a meeting to resolved the water supply problem along with the water department officials. As well as other former corporators naming Jyoti Ganesh Kalamkar, Corporator Swapnali Prahlad Saikar were part of such meetings.

MLA Chandrakant Patil said, “The water issues is very serious and it is a matter of great concern. Water is a basic right of citizens which we cannot neglect. I am hoping that PMC takes immediate steps to resolve the issues of the residents of Baner Balewadi Sus Mhalunge.”

Balwadkar pointed, “Despite sufficient rainfall and water storage in the dams, the villages of Baner-Balewadi-Pashan-Sus-Mhalunge are getting inadequate water supply only due to unplanned water distribution policies of the administration. I am religiously following up with the PMC officials and concerned departments. But my requests have not been heard and ignored and have been falling on deaf ears. I appeal and demand to PMC commissioner Vikram Kumar that if we stop the leakages from the pipe line at various places and get it repaired, maintain the water pumps efficiently we can achieve smooth flow of water.”

Speaking to Pune Pulse Sangeetha Baheti from Balewadi Willows said, “Water is one of the main issues we face apart from experiencing that our area us being completely neglected. There have been several meetings over water issues in the last 13 years but there has been no solution to it.”

Ramesh Rokade from Balewadi Residents Forum said, “We want permanent solution, not temporary ideas and solution. For last eight years I am staying in this year but there is no solution to even one problem. We are tired of the assurances now and seek permanent solution to our problems.”

In the meeting Commissioner Vikram Kumar assured and gave instructions to the concerned authorities on urgent basis to fix the pumps that are supplying water to Baner Balewadi area. Also the newly included Sus-Mhalunge-Bavdhan issues were also taken into consideration. A plan to supply water to these villages through Pune Municipal Corporation has been prepared and funds will be made available for it. He has assured that sufficient water will be supplied to these villages also through PMC itself.

He pointed, “Due to inadequate basic facilities of corporation we are lacking behind as well as funding issues. But such will be resolve and such villages has been newly emerged with us. The work in such area will be commence in three phases. Such issue cannot be resolve looking at temporary measures but benefit at long run.”
