Pune, July 5, 2025: Residents of the Baner–Balewadi area can finally breathe a sigh of relief as a much-needed fire station has officially begun operations. This critical facility, which was first demanded in 2015 through the Sangharsh Yatra movement, has now become a reality after years of persistent efforts.

Considering the rapid growth in population, increasing number of high-rise buildings, and rising risks of accidents and disasters in the area, a dedicated fire station was seen as an essential service for public safety.

Construction of the fire station commenced in 2018–19 and was completed around 18 months ago. However, administrative delays pushed back its inauguration and operational readiness.

On December 24, 2024, local representatives met with the Municipal Commissioner to demand that the fire station be opened immediately. Following swift action by the concerned departments, the facility has now officially started serving the community.

The new station is equipped with two modern fire vehicles fitted with high ladders, along with a full team of officers and fire personnel assigned by the administration.

Amol Balwadkar, who played a key role in this effort, said, “This is not just about infrastructure; it is about the safety and confidence of thousands of families living in Baner and Balewadi. The successful opening of the fire station is the result of years of struggle, citizen participation, and support from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). I am proud that our efforts have finally paid off.”

This is not just another public service, but a crucial pillar of safety for residents of Baner and Balewadi. The successful opening of the fire station stands as a testament to the long struggle led by the Sangharsh Yatra, active citizen participation, and the support of the BJP.

During today’s visit to the Baner Fire Station, key attendees included Station Head Mr. Shivaji Memane, Officer-in-Charge Mr. Pramod Maral, Tandels Mr. Ganesh Shinde, and firemen Sagar Thombre, Mahesh Gargote, Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad, Ajit Bichkule, Rishikesh Jare, Vishal Gengje, Pranit Ilpate, Sumit Gajre, Akshay Gaikwad, Rajan Bhalchim, Shrijit Saskar, and Akash Mengde.
