Bavdhan has become a fast developing suburb sans basic infrastructure.

Gera Isle Society road, which has received a sharp criticism from the area residents, is still filled with debris that forces residents to take an alternate route due to its piteous state of the approach road to the society.

Pune Pulse in its earlier report had stated the political and civic stance of the road, but sadly, the poor state of affair of the road is still the same, suggesting no development amidst growing citizen concerns.

Nishi Kaveri, who has time and again raised her concern on the pathetic route of the one kilometer stretch, has shown extreme displeasure while talking to Pune Pulse. She said, “The kind of pathetic approach even after followed up by PMC and the area corporator is an utter negligence. We citizens demand immediate rectification of the road which is filled debris and loose gravel. How long do we have to stay deprived of our basic rights even after paying the tax?”

Pune Pulse escalated the matter to the area corporator who had earlier suggested that a meeting is ongoing between the PMC and the bisecting land owners. Pune Pulse recorded a similar statement by the corporator, now, suggesting that the work is not proceeding ahead.

Dilip Vedepatil, area corporator, said, “The budget allocation for development is given from February to April. We have, so far, not received any positive feedback due to COVID. I am hoping that the issue will be resolved by April this year. The land problem has been cleared after several rounds of meetings.”

PMC Commissioner, Vikram Kumar, has chosen to stay silent on the issue even after Pune Pulse reached out to him second time after the first coverage.

V G Kulkarni, head of road department, PMC while talking to Pune Pulse said, “We are yet to clear the land possession problem. Until the land is taken under PMC, there can be no development.”

Dushyant Bhatia, a representative of Bavdhan Citizen forum, said, “The road is definitely messed up and not a good option to even walk during night as there are no lights, too. Also, just a bit ahead of the mentioned road, one can find weight machine kept on the side of the road that may possibly destroy the road. And at the same road, there is a neglected and isolated building in which most of the time people come and booze. The issue needs to be addressed.”
