Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 review: Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan deliver outstanding performances in a remarkable climax, albeit following a tedious two-hour duration.

A daring end seeks to enhance this otherwise average horror comedy featuring Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit.

The highly anticipated sequel to Bhool Bhulaiya has finally hit the screens. Critics are particularly praising the climax.

For a duration of two hours, the horror-comedy wanders aimlessly, interspersing occasional gags with sporadic jump scares, resulting in Kartik Aaryan appearing to sleepwalk through his role while the other seasoned actors overact.

Kartik Aryan stands out prominently in the first half of the film, effectively carrying the weight of the story. However, the pacing during this segment is excruciatingly slow, making it a real challenge for viewers. The plot loses momentum, and the initial concept is significantly compromised in the second half.

However, the entire scene changes during the last three minutes of the movie. The final 30 minutes of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 appear to have been crafted and directed by a different individual altogether. Director Bazmee adds an unexpected layer and a surprising plot twist that catches you off guard. It’s daring and audacious, yet the timing feels so off that your interest has waned. However, it’s undeniable that the climax delivers a satisfying payoff.

The movie, which had relied heavily on tired jokes up to that point, suddenly takes daring and courageous turns, addressing important topics, creating coherence, and even pulling at your heartstrings.

Let’s take a look at how the plot unfolds.

Roohan, also known as Rooh Baba (Kartik), is a fraudster posing as a ghostbuster in Kolkata. He is approached by Princess Meera (Triptii Dimri) of Raktaghat, who seeks his services to rid her kingdom of a supposed haunting. Her father, Raja Saab (Vijay Raaz), believes that the palace is plagued by the spirit of Manjulika, a witch from two centuries ago. As Roohan delves deeper, he discovers he bears a remarkable resemblance to a deceased prince of the realm, leading everyone to believe he is his reincarnation. He resolves to eliminate Manjulika for the royal family. However, the challenge lies in identifying who Manjulika truly is. The suspects include two enigmatic women: Mallika (Vidya Balan), who arrives at the palace for restoration, and Mandira (Madhuri Dixit), a noblewoman interested in acquiring the estate. Both women have an odd obsession with the palace and its throne, bringing forth a series of strange occurrences.
