Pune Police Map 2,576 Crime Hotspots, Enhance Patrolling Under Cop24 Initiative
Pune: To address the growing urban expansion, rising crime rates, and law and order challenges, the state government approved the establishment of seven new police stations in Pune. Now, the Maharashtra State Home Department has officially determined their jurisdiction and issued orders regarding the same.
A few months ago, the Home Department sanctioned these seven new police stations under the Pune City Police Commissionerate, creating 816 new positions. The inauguration of these stations took place in October 2024 at the hands of then-Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Since then, the police stations at Ambegaon, Nanded City, Baner, Kharadi, Wagholi, Kalepadal, and Fursungi have been operational.
To establish these new police stations, existing ones were divided:
- Ambegaon police station was carved out of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
- Baner police station was created from Chaturshringi police station.
- Wagholi police station was formed from Lonikand police station.
- Nanded City police station was separated from Sinhagad Road police station.
- Fursungi police station was formed by dividing Hadapsar police station.
- Kharadi police station was created by splitting areas from Chandan Nagar and Lonikand police stations.
