Pune: Six patients at hospitals in Mumbai, Pune, and Sangli have benefited from the organs of a 45-year-old brain-dead man.

The Police and the Sangli district authorities acted quickly on Sunday, airlifting the businessman’s heart to Mumbai after it was transported from Sangli to Kolhapur airport in 34 minutes as opposed to the usual one and a half hours.

In a Sangli hospital, the brain-dead patient’s organs were recovered. Quick transit made sure that the organs got to Pune and Mumbai quickly.

Transporting two kidneys and the lungs from Sangli to Pune took two and a half hours, compared to the usual five hours. Three patients in Pune received these organs. The pair of eyes were given to two patients in Sangli.

A businessman from Sangli experienced brain hemorrhage subsequent to an increase in blood pressure. A few days ago, he was admitted to a medical sciences institute located in Sangli. After three days, he passed away.

According to a family member of the Sangli businessman, they decided to donate their organs after talking with other family members and relatives.

According to a senior representative of the Medical Sciences Institute, the organization is authorized to perform organ donation. Following the family’s decision to become organ donors, their highly qualified physicians made sure the organs were removed in accordance with protocol and transported safely. The man’s corneas, kidneys, lungs, and heart were removed. The heart was necessary for a young patient in the Mumbai hospital who was dependent on an artificial heart.

The victim of a brain hemorrhage had his heart airlifted to Mumbai from the airport in Kolhapur.
