Chandrapur : Four youths drown while clicking selfie in Ghodazari
Chandrapur, July 17 (UNI) Four youths drowned while taking selfies in Ghodazari Lake in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, police said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday at around 4:30 pm at Ghodazari Lake in Nagbhid Tehsil, where eight youths from Shegaon in Warora Tehsil had gone for a picnic due to the onset of the monsoon.
Police said one of the youths fell into the lake while taking a selfie, and three others who entered the water to save him also drowned.
The local police and disaster relief team were alerted, they rushed to the spot immediately and launched a search operation.
The victims were identified as Manish Shrirame (26), Dheeraj Zade (27), Sanket Modak (25) and Chetan Mandade (17).
Besides, more rescue teams are being dispatched from Chandrapur district station for the search operation, which is still underway, police added.
