Chinchwad and Bhosari Await MVA’s Final Candidate Decisions as Nomination Deadline Approaches
In the Pimpri constituency, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has successfully resolved its candidate selection issues, but challenges persist in Chinchwad and Bhosari. With just two days left to file nominations, a deadlock continues in both constituencies as tensions rise over candidate selections.
Chinchwad Constituency:
In Chinchwad, former Shiv Sena councilor Rahul Kalate has shown interest in contesting as a candidate for the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), while Nana Kate from the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) is also seeking a ticket from the same NCP(Sharad Pawar faction). Meanwhile, former councilor Moreshwar Bhondwe, who recently joined Shiv Sena (Thackeray) after leaving the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), is also vying for a ticket. A final decision on party symbols and candidates remains unresolved, fueling speculation.
Bhosari Constituency:
In Bhosari, the situation is particularly tense, with competition between Shiv Sena (Thackeray) and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction). Ajit Gawhane, a recent transfer from the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction, and Ravi Landge, who switched from the BJP to Shiv Sena (Thackeray), are both determined to secure the nomination. Gawhane, backed by former MLA Vilas Lande, has already initiated campaigning and met with state president Jayant Patil and Sharad Pawar to solidify his stance. Shiv Sena (Thackeray) leaders, meanwhile, are pushing for representation in at least one of the three city constituencies, adding to the friction.
As the deadline for nominations approaches, it’s likely that either Gawhane or Landge will need to withdraw, though no resolution is in sight.
Pimpri Constituency:
In Pimpri, Shiv Sena (Thackeray) district head and former MLA Gautam Chabukswar and city head Sachin Bhosale initially expressed interest in running. However, the seat was ultimately allocated to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) under the Sharad Pawar faction, which nominated former municipal councilor Sulakshana Shilwant.
