Citizens of Pune city on January 29 met the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashikant Borate at his office in Yerwada to discuss various issues concerning the citizens.

Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar (TSKN), a group of citizens of Kalyani Nagar, met Shashikant Borate Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Pune Traffic Police.

As per information shared by TSKN group, all forms of traffic indiscipline being currently experienced in Pune were raised.

It was suggested that Kalyani Nagar, armed with its active citizenry and collaborative experience, should be adopted as a model focus area and trial run for enforcing order and discipline on its roads on a 3-monthly basis. This suggestion was approved.

Thereafter, the learnings can be implemented and expanded to other localities. The meeting was arranged by Pune Platform for Collaborative Response (PPCR) which was represented by Aniket Bhilare, who is a coordinator of PPCR. A few citizens from other localities also attended the meeting.

The TSKN group appreciates its active members & active citizens of Kalyani Nagar who took time off from their busy schedules to represent all the residents of Kalyani Nagar.

Ameet Singh, a core member, Pune River Revival said, “The DCP is a very positive person who has assured discussion & resolving traffic problems every month. For public awareness, boards, popularly known as Puneri Patya, will be put on roads for people to understand more about traffic rules and more. This is a good idea. Other issues like breaking traffic signals, wrong-side driving, etc were also discussed.”

Aniket Bhilare, co-ordinator, PPCR said, “The aim of these meetings with the DCP is to collaboratively discuss & find solutions to all the traffic issues. We are also conducting a National Road Safety Abhiyan where we conduct workshops in corporate houses which are about public awareness about following traffic rules etc. Several people from various backgrounds & localities were present for the meeting.”
