Citizens suffer due to traffic congestion between Kokane chowk and P K chowk ; Anita Kate
From Hinjewadi IT Park to Rahatani, Pimple Saudagar and Pimple Gurav area, commuters are facing daily traffic jams on the main road from Konkane chowk to P K chowk. Motorists suffer a lot due to congestion everyday. Social activist Anita Sandeep Kate has lamented that the citizens are facing traffic congestion due to the ongoing works of the smart city.
Majority of the IT professionals, MIDC employees live in Wakad, Bhumkar chowk, Pimple Saudagar and often suffer congestion on the road stretch between Kokane chowk at Pimple Saudagar to P K Chowk. These areas have frequent congestion due to improper management of the ongoing development work, wrong signals and narrow roads.
As millions of vehicles are coming on the roads every day, the IT engineers have been harassed due to the constant traffic congestion on the Nashik Phata to Hinjewadi roads. More than 35 lakh residents of Hinjewadi, Talegaon, Chakan and Pimpri-Chinchwad city areas are facing many problems. Chakan, Bhosari, Talwade, Hinjewadi areas have large, medium and small-scale industries along with IT companies. Millions of workers in this area commute on this road for work. Hundreds of IT companies are operating in Hinjewadi IT Park in Phase 1, 2 and 3.
“Two million citizens of the state and across the country are living in this city for jobs and business. In comparison, the city’s transportation system is poor. In addition, the width of the roads has been reduced due to widening of sidewalks under Smart City,” said Anita Kate.
Anita Kate also demanded that the police and municipal administration should ensure that there is proper traffic management considering the increasing population.
