Residents and security guards engaged in a violent confrontation at Greater Noida West’s White Orchid apartments in the Gaur City-2 township over a dispute regarding the handover of maintenance responsibilities.
The incident unfolded as residents demanded the builder transfer maintenance and security control to the residents, leading to disruptions in services and a subsequent protest.
The Apartment Owners’ Association (AOA) had informed the builder of the decision to initiate the transfer on February 7 for a smooth transition.
However, on February 8, the builder abruptly halted all services, prompting the AOA to involve another facility management agency.
As the new personnel arrived around 6 pm, alleged attacks by security guards and the closure of society gates ensued.
Residents claimed the builder employed bouncers posing as security, while the builder refuted the allegations, stating that the AOA’s actions were illegal.
The situation is under mediation, with police deployed to maintain law and order, and no registered cases as of now.
