A group of 49 students and teachers had a close brush with danger while going to a school picnic. On Wednesday morning, around 7:30 am, their journey took a terrifying turn near Mill Village, near the Khopoli exit along the old Mumbai-Pune highway.

Their bus, heading towards Raigad, suddenly swerved off the road, ending up about 100 meters from where it should have been. Thanks to the quick response of the highway police and the brave efforts of Khopoli police Inspector Sheetal Raut, along with the local rescue team led by Gurudada Satilkar, everyone was rescued swiftly.

The group, travelling in a private luxury bus from Chikhali, was on their way to a school-organized picnic. Despite the frightening experience, there were no serious injuries reported. After being initially trapped, all the children, teachers, and the bus attendant were safely rescued, along with the bus driver.

They found refuge at Gagangiri Ashram, where they received immediate medical attention and a chance to recover from the shock.

Currently, authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which caused a temporary disruption to traffic along the highway.
