Covid 19 in Pune : PMC on its toes, precautions in place

In the latest update on the Covid 19 situation, it has been reported that the number of Covid patients is increasing in the state. While it is important not to panic, everyone is advised to be careful and take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

At a review meeting held on March 29, 2023, the state and district level hospital preparedness, instructions on mock drills, and preparedness regarding drug stock and other equipment were reviewed. 

District administration and Municipal Corporation were given instructions on various measures, including screening patients with symptoms of ILI/SARI-like illness, regularly sending samples of RTPCR positive patients for Covid’s genomic sequencing, following contact tracing guidelines and home isolation instructions, ensuring availability of medicines and supplies in the hospital, and establishing a control room in every district.

In addition, the public has been advised to avoid going to crowded and enclosed places, use masks in health institutions/hospitals, use masks in crowded and confined places, cover nose and mouth while sneezing or coughing with handkerchief/tissue, maintain hand hygiene by frequently washing hands, avoid spitting in public places, consult a doctor and get an early Covid test if symptoms occur, limit personal contact if suffering from respiratory disease, get vaccinated with a Covid booster dose, and self-isolate at home till full recovery without going to office, school, college, place/crowded place/public place in case of mild symptoms.

It is important to take these precautions seriously to prevent the further spread and keep ourselves and others safe.
