Canadian company Dbrand is under fire after a customer complaint turned into a social media debacle. Bhuwan Chitransh, a software engineer from Pune, India, living in Utrecht, Netherlands, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express disappointment with a MacBook skin purchased from Dbrand. He reported the skin lost its color within two months. Dbrand’s response shocked many. They replied, “Your last name is basically shit rash, be serious,” sparking accusations of racism and unprofessionalism.

Social media users condemned Dbrand’s behavior, highlighting the inappropriateness of mocking a customer’s name. They criticized the company for its disrespectful and insensitive reply, noting the potential market alienation.

One said, “Roasting is a different thing @dbrand (maybe it’s cool for you), but a racist comment is not so cool and such a good company shouldn’t do it.”

The incident sheds light on the importance of respectful customer service and cultural sensitivity, especially in a global marketplace. Companies need to prioritize professionalism and empathy in their interactions with customers, regardless of cultural backgrounds or online platforms.

Dbrand’s misstep serves as a cautionary tale for businesses navigating the complexities of online customer engagement.
