Deputy Registrar dissolves committee of ShivShankar Girija co-operative housing society

After observing inappropriate and malpractices in a NIBM Undri road based co-operative housing society, the deputy district registrar Dr R S Dhondkar was prompted to take stern action against the management committee.

The incident came to light after the Shivshankar Girija Co-operative housing society, NIBM Undri road, Pune members Sharafat Khan and Viraj Suratwala had moved their complaints before the Deputy Registrar co-operative society  in Pune against the society’s committee members and residents naming V R Chandan, Laxman Ballanna Darolo, Rajkaval R Batra, N Ahluwalia, Anjalo Lima Fernandes, Shridhar Shetty, Babubhai Patel, Dr Shyam Rajore, Surendra Singh, Yuhan Irani and others. The case was registered under the relevant provision laid under the Maharashtra Co-operative Society Act, 1960. 

The complainants lawyer Raju Naik had filed the case.

According to the complaint the current society chairperson along with secretary and other committee members allegedly neglected the norms laid down under the relevant provision of  Maharashtra Co-operative Society Act, 1960. As well as they were found misusing their power for inappropriate actions while rendering their duties. There was also allegations that they were not following the government rules and regulation. The committee had taken additional charges which includes Rs 25,000 for transfer fees, entry fee Rs 100 and and other charges as Rs 500. 
Based on the greviances reported by Khan and Suratwala the deputy district registrar had asked the society constituted body to file their say in written form under the provision of the Maharashtra Co-operative Society Act, 1960 on May 28, this year. 

As per their written say they had filed claimed that they are falsely implicated in this complaint as well as they did not do any gross negligence neither took any additional charges as claimed by the complainants. We took the development charges and from those funds we utilise for providing drainage line, water pipelines, security camera and others. 
After hearing both the parties grievances the deputy district registrar Dr R S Dhondkar has observed in his order that, “As per the norms laid down under the Co-operative society act no maintenance should be more than Rs 25,000 or above.”


He further observed that, “The society chairperson Vasant Ramji Chandan and secretary Laxman Ballanna Darolo has held negligence in following the rules laid down under the relevant section of the Maharashtra Co-operative society, 1960. And hence duo has been barred for six years to hold any position in the society’s committee.”
