Dhangar Community holds rasta roko on Pune Saswad road near Mantarwadi 

Pune: Leaders of the Dhangar community and Dhangar Samaj Yuvak Sanghatana staged ‘rasta roko’ protests on Pune-Saswad road, demanding reservation for their community. The protests caused disruptions in vehicular movement for several hours.

Members of Dhangar community and Dhangar Samaj Yuvak Sanghatana  gathered at Mantarwadi phata on Pune-Saswad road and staged ‘rasta roko’ agitation on Sunday at around 5:30 pm.

Protesters chanted slogans against the government and demanded to fulfil their long Dhangar community reservation demand. 

Protesters used cattles,goats, sheeps to block the Pune-Saswad road. Heavy police force was deployed at Pune-Saswad road to avoid any untoward incident during the protest.

Ghanyashyam Hake, head of the Dhangar Samaj Yuvak Sanghatana said, “Reservation demand of our community is long pending. Every time, the government committs to fulfil it but we are still waiting for it. To condemn government here we have staged rasta roko.’’

According to Hake, not only here, in many cities we are protesting to highlight our reservation issue. Hope this time, the government will fulfill it.

Due to the protests, vehicular movement from and towards Saswad was disrupted for several hours and long queues of vehicles were seen on the Pune-Saswad road.
