Doctor Slams Pune 5-Star Hotel Over 'Disgusting, Unhygienic' Conditions
A Pune-based five-star hotel is under scrutiny after a doctor publicly criticized its hygiene standards and staff behavior in a viral post on social media platform X. The doctor claimed she discovered a used comb in her room and encountered rude behavior from the hotel’s General Manager (GM) when she raised the issue.
According to the post, the doctor noticed her room had been changed without any prior notification upon check-in. “No explanation, no apology, no courtesy. Just a silent switch. But I accommodated,” she wrote. The situation worsened after her visit to the spa when she discovered a reused comb inside a sealed package in her room. “Disgusting & unhygienic. If they’re reusing combs, what else are they reusing? Toothbrushes? Horrifying to even think about,” she added.
The doctor further alleged that the hotel’s GM was dismissive and hostile when she complained. “Instead of listening, he was rude, condescending & dismissive. When I mentioned the impact of social media on reputations, he shouted, ‘Do what you want, I’ll see what I need to do!’” she wrote.
In response to these allegations, the hotel issued a statement via email, saying, “We strive to deliver best-in-class experiences for our guests and remain committed to upholding the trust of our guests by delivering exceptional service and world-class amenities.”
I faced a similar issue once& since then I made it a habit to pick up the toiletries including the laundry bag,so that nothing can be recycled, bcoz most of this stuff is unwanted, I dispose of them in some garbage bin en route.

But I DO NOT LEAVE SUCH ITEMS BEHIND TO BE REUSED
The doctor’s post has sparked widespread discussion online, with many sharing similar experiences at luxury hotels across India. One user commented, “I faced a similar issue once and now I always take the toiletries to avoid recycled items.” Another shared, “I was there last month, and just as I checked in, another couple entered the room—they hadn’t checked out yet!”
While mypunepulse.com has not independently verified the doctor’s claims, the incident has raised concerns about hygiene standards and customer service at luxury hotels.
