Dr Nilesh Kurwale awarded for his extraordinary work

The Rotary Club of Pune Baner https://rcpunebaner.rotary3131.org/ gave away the prestigious Rotary Vocational Excellence award to Dr. Nilesh Kurwale, a leading neuro surgeon and epilepsy specialist from Pune.

The award ceremony took place recently at the Bal Kalyan Sanstha, Ganeshkhind road, Pune. The chief guest for the function was DGN Rtn. Manjoo Phadke from Rotary District 3131. Dr Kurwale was recognised for his exemplary contribution to epilepsy surgeries. He is the head of the epilepsy department at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre, Pune.

Dr Kurwale also conducts a special project along with Rotary Club of Pune Baner, in which the poor and needy patients of epilepsy are treated for free via micro surgeries conducted by Dr Kurwale and his team.

The award carried a citation and a trophy. The trophy was handed over to the recipient by DGN Manjoo. The president of the Rotary Club of Pune Baner, Rotarian Sanket Saraf handed over citation to Dr. Kurwale. Rotarian Captain Pradeep Nadkar read out the citation.

Speaking on the occasion, DGN Manjoo remarked that this award instituted by the Rotary International recognises the tall contributions made by various individuals in the society towards the development of mankind.

She said, “Dr.Kurwale’s work is really commendable and helps in turning around the lives of poor epilepsy patients.”..She added that Rotary district 3131 would like to carry forward the epilepsy surgery project of Baner club on a large scale next year.”

On receiving the award Dr Kurwale said that the award carries a special significance because it brings about an awareness on the need for epilepsy surgeries and throws light on the work done by him. He thanked Rotary for the nobel initiative.

Also present on the occasion were parents of Epilepsy patients, whose surgeries were successfully carried out by Dr. Kurwale. “Our children got a reincarnation because of the surgeries by Dr. Kurwale,” they averred.

Present on the occasion were club members Rotarian Aniruddh Joshi, secretary and others. They were, Rotarians Unmesh Risbood, Vaishali Zumbre, Rajat Chitrawanshi, Jigneash Karia, Prreeya Karia, Satyanarayan Kabra, Vikram Jadhav and others. Rotarian Surhuda Kulkarni conducted the proceedings and Rotarian Satyajit Wale proposed a vote of thanks. Rtn. Snehal Bhat conducted the four way test and commenced the ceremony.
