Drunk Man Found Sleeping On Mumbai Railway Tracks As Train Approaches, Video Goes Viral
A tense moment unfolded at CSMT during rush hour after a 19-year-old lay down on active tracks under a bedsheet, briefly disrupting Harbour Line services.
A shocking and dangerous incident at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) has triggered widespread concern after a young man was found sleeping directly on railway tracks as a local train approached.
The incident, which occurred on Monday afternoon around 3.30 pm, briefly disrupted Harbour Line train services and created panic among commuters at one of the city’s busiest railway stations.
According to officials, the man has been identified as Avinash Prakash Kardile (19), who reportedly collects trash along the tracks. Witnesses said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol when he suddenly lay down on the tracks and covered himself with a white bedsheet, seemingly unaware of the grave danger.
As a train began pulling into the Harbour Line track, commuters noticed the man lying motionless. Passengers immediately shouted, waved, and tried to alert both the man and railway staff.

The approaching train slowed down, with the driver repeatedly honking in an attempt to prevent a tragedy. However, the man remained unfazed and continued sleeping despite the chaos unfolding around him.
The frightening scene was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, sparking alarm over safety and the risks posed by reckless behaviour on railway premises.
Officials said personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) rushed to the spot within minutes. They lifted the man off the tracks and ensured that train operations could resume safely.
A major accident was narrowly avoided, and normal services were restored shortly after the intervention.
Authorities later registered a case against the man under Section 147 (trespass) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Railways Act.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of unauthorised access to railway tracks and the importance of vigilance at crowded stations like CSMT, where even a moment of negligence can lead to catastrophic consequences.
