The scheduled journey of Duronto Express from Ahmedabad (12297) turned into a harrowing experience for passengers, with its arrival at Pune railway station delayed by more than 18 hours.
Departing from Surat at a significantly delayed time of 9 am, instead of the original 1:45 am schedule, passengers found themselves stranded at unexpected stops for hours on end. A passenger, among the affected travellers, criticised the lack of communication from railway authorities regarding the train’s schedule, leading to confusion and frustration among passengers.

“We’ve technically travelled since 3 am. Even after the train started, it had no punctuality, stopping at every station and letting other trains like the Vande Bharat and Rajdhani pass,” a passenger lamented.
As the train reached Vangaon station, passengers faced further delays, waiting for an additional four hours. Frustration boiled over, prompting some to protest by gathering on the tracks.
Sonam Shah, another passenger, expressed disappointment with the railways, emphasising the financial and logistical inconveniences faced by passengers. “Our journey was nothing short of harassment. A six-hour trip turned into a day-long ordeal,” she recounted.
Waiting for his family in Pune, a passenger voiced concern for fellow passengers’ well-being, especially women and children left stranded without provisions. “The Duronto Express was the only train left behind while others were passing by,” he highlighted.
