ECI Begins Assessment of Maharashtra Assembly Poll Preparations
A team from the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, arrived in Mumbai on Thursday for a two-day visit to assess the preparations for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. The delegation includes Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, as well as other senior officials from the ECI.
During their visit, the team will hold meetings with various stakeholders, including representatives from political parties, enforcement agencies, nodal officers of Central paramilitary forces, special police nodal officers, the state’s Chief Election Officer, the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police (DGP), administrative secretaries, and senior police officials. Additionally, the team will engage with district collectors and superintendents of police to ensure election readiness.
The ECI plans to hold a press conference on Saturday evening before departing for Delhi. The current term of the Maharashtra assembly is set to expire in the last week of November.
