Pune city may see water cut once in a week starting from May 18. In a meeting held recently, discussion on water supply and water stock in the dams was held, wherein keeping in mind the EL Nino effect, the administration decided to keep water supply shut once in a week from May 18. If, it rains sufficient water cut wont go for a longer duration. Water supply will remain off on every Thursday.

PMC has spoken with the district guardian minister regarding the water situation in the district. Vikram Kumar, PMC, Commissioner informed that the water cut will be executed from May 18 in the city. 5 TMC water has been demanded from Mulshi, while micro planning will be done if it rains adequately.

According to the reports by India Meteorological Department, the El Nino will disrupt the monsoon season which will result in low rainfall this year. The state government has instructed the relevant departments to start planning for water conservation and alternative sources.
