An announcement has been made regarding an anticipated 7.50% increase in the average electricity bill for the upcoming financial year (2024–25), adding to the financial strain on the general public. This rate adjustment will take effect from Monday, April 1. Furthermore, there will be a consistent rise of 10% in steady rates.

Last year, the Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) filed a petition seeking a tariff hike. Following the commission’s approval, the proposed rate adjustment is now set to be implemented.

In the previous fiscal year, consumers experienced a 7.25% increase in the average electricity bill. Similarly, in the upcoming financial year (2024–25), a 7.50% surge in electricity tariffs is anticipated. This adjustment will impact consumers across various sectors, including traders, farmers, and industries.
