A family court has granted a divorce by mutual consent to a couple, identified as Kiran and Shalini (names changed), due to the absence of a physical relationship for 14 months. Family Court Judge Kiran Bane-Patil presided over the case, making key decisions regarding the couple’s assets and child support.

Kiran and Shalini, who married in April 2019 in Gujarat, have a three-year-old son. Their relationship began to deteriorate over minor disagreements, which escalated despite mediation efforts by their families. In May 2023, Shalini left her husband’s home and moved in with her parents.

Advocate Mangesh Kadam facilitated further mediation between the couple. Kiran ultimately filed for divorce, citing the lack of physical intimacy as the primary reason. Shalini agreed to the divorce, opting for a mutual consent resolution.

Judge Bane-Patil’s ruling included provisions for the well-being of their child. A flat will be purchased in the son’s name, where he will live with his mother. Kiran will pay ₹1,80,000 annually towards the son’s expenses until he reaches adulthood. Additionally, Shalini will receive a 20 percent share in Kiran’s business.
