First outdoor table tennis court inaugurated in Pimple Saudagar
Table tennis enthusiasts can now play the game outdoor. Thanks to the local corporator of Pimple Saudagar, Shatrughan Kate who took the initiative and installed a table tennis court in the Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Linear Garden in P K Chowk.
The table tennis court is set up by Shatrughan Kate’s self funds and was inaugurated by entrepreneurs Vasant Kate, Raju Jain, Rajabhau Masulkar, Nangre Kaka and International Table Tennis Federation Level 2 coach Chandar Thawani (Rising star sports club and Pimpri Chinchwad Table Tennis Association, Secretary) on February 15.

Out of two table tennis courts one was handed over to the public. This is probably first outdoor table tennis court, said Shatrughan Kate. He further said that the court is made from SMC material (Sheet Moulding Compound) and can be played in all seasons. The table is 2.74 meters long, 1.525 meters wide and 76 cms in height. The residents can play at the court free of cost. But it is mandatory to carry your own tennis racket and ball.
Table tennis is an indoor game but seeing the youth population in the area and also to provide ample sports amenities it was decided to introduce outdoor table tennis to the locals of this area. Table tennis helps in maintaining concentration and can be a good sport for people of all ages, added Kate.
