The delayed road construction around Naturals Ice Cream Store is causing frustration among the residents of Pimple Saudagar.

Local residents in Pimple Saudagar have been eagerly waiting for the construction of a new road connecting Naturals Ice Cream Store to Triose Housing Society. However, the project has hit a roadblock. Despite the civic body floating a tender for the project, the defence authorities are unwilling to hand over the remaining land required for the road. This has left the residents frustrated and disappointed. The plan is to construct a road that will face a width of 18 meters and span a distance of 920 meters.

Local residents who successfully secured the land from the defense ministry communicated their displeasure over the current situation. The road connecting Kasarwadi to Kokane Chowk, Shivar Chowk, Jagtap Dairy, Pune, Hinjawadi, and Ravet is a crucial lifeline for Pimple Saudagar residents. The areas around PK Chowk, Kokane, and Shivar Chowk are notorious for massive traffic and congestion.

The proposed Naturals Ice Cream Store to Triose Housing Society road promises to alleviate traffic issues on this busy route. After persistent efforts from local residents, a meeting between civic and defence officials was held, leading to an agreement that Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) would compensate the defence ministry for the land through civic works in the defence area.

However, despite the completion of the procedure four months ago, the civic body has yet to take any action. Sandip Kate, a frustrated local resident, questioned, “If the civic body is not taking action, who should we go to?”

Devanna Gattuwar, executive engineer at PCMC, acknowledged the delay, citing technical reasons. He assured that the issue would be addressed by coordinating with the town planning department and completing the necessary civic works as compensation for the defense land.

Ashok Kute, the deputy engineer at the town planning department, stated, “We have acquired the land, but a meeting scheduled for March 15 with defence officials aims to finalize the agreement for implementing civic works worth Rs 30 crore. The issue will soon be resolved.” Residents hope for a swift resolution to finally see the long-awaited road construction become a reality.
