Pune: Passengers travelling from Pune to Mumbai regularly have to face the problem of congestion. Due to this, many people have to do this uncomfortable journey standing. But steps have been taken to solve this problem. Now this journey is going to be comfortable.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Ramdas Bhise, Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) And PRO, Pune Railways said, “The work of extending the length of platforms two, three and six at Pune railway station has started. Currently, trains having 16 to 18 coaches can halt on this platform. After increasing the length, trains of around 26 coaches will be able to halt at this place. Also, Pune Railway has started construction of a new satellite terminal at Hadapsar Station. Overall, Rs 50 crore will be spent for all these works.”

As per further information, 30 percent of Pune railway station has been completed. Therefore, instead of 24, 26 coaches can stop at Pune railway station. The coaches of trains departing from Pune railway station will be increased. This will help in solving the congestion problem.

Along with the Railway Division, a significant amount of traffic keeps commuting on the Mumbai Pune Expressway as well. Hence, to resolve traffic congestion on the expressway, an extension of up to 8 lanes is being planned.
