Pune: Residents of Hinjewadi and Wakad areas can now have a sigh of relief as the problem of water logging, primarily responsible for traffic congestion in the area, is now resolved. Additionally, marshalls (patrolling teams) are also deployed for regular traffic monitoring.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ganesh Pawar, Assistant Police Inspector, Traffic Department, Hinjewadi said, “MIDC Phase 3 of Hinjewadi has resolved the drainage water logging issues in several locations. Water used to accumulate due to choking problems in the internal parts of the chamber near Grand Street Road, opposite the new PVR mall. Hence, after several letters and proposals from our side, the MIDC finally solved it.”

Speaking on the ever-increasing traffic in the area, he added, “Most of the offices in Hinjewadi have restarted the work-from-office policy for its employees. As a result, traffic is increasing in the area. There is no need to worry as we will address the issue of traffic congestion on priority.”

Dattatray Deshmukh, Chairman, Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation, while expressing his joy said, ” We were struggling daily with these issues. The work done by the traffic department is commendable. We hope that if we face any such issues in the future, the traffic police will solve it on a priority.”

Sunil Pinjan, Senior Inspector Traffic Wakad said, “The implementation of one-way traffic from Bhumkar Chowk to Hinjewadi IT Park has led to a reduction in traffic congestion.”

To ease traffic congestion, the Hinjewadi traffic department has deployed 3 to 4 marshals (patrolling teams) in various busy areas of Hinjewadi like the market route from Shivaji Chowk to Wakad Naka and many more. A marshal (patrolling team) consists of 2 traffic wardens.
