Pune, July 30 : Concerns over the declining state of infrastructure in Hinjewadi, Pune’s prominent IT hub, have been brought to the forefront by various associations. These pressing issues came to light during a Twitter Spaces conference organized by the Forum for IT Employees (FITE) Maharashtra (@FITEMaharashtra) held on Friday, July 28.

The conference shed light on the daily challenges faced by employees in the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, a vital hub for IT solutions export and a major contributor to the nation’s foreign currency reserves and taxes. The key grievances expressed during the conference included:

  1. Poor road conditions and frequent traffic jams leading to significant delays.
  2. Inadequate garbage disposal resulting in scattered waste.
  3. Insufficient public transportation, making daily commutes challenging for thousands of employees.
  4. Indifference from IT companies towards the commuting difficulties faced by their workforce.
  5. The hazardous movement of heavy-duty vehicles through the congested IT park.
  6. Encroachments obstructing free movement and exacerbating traffic problems.
  7. Employees spending around four hours daily commuting, leading to increased stress and reduced personal time.

Considering the IT park’s substantial contribution to the country’s revenue, participants expressed frustration at the lack of interest shown by the authorities. The confusing administrative setup involving multiple agencies such as PMRDA, MIDC, Gram Panchayats, the state government, and the PWD was highlighted as a significant factor leading to accountability issues.

Participants unanimously called for immediate action to improve the current state of affairs. They urged the authorities to display empathy and promptly address the situation. The meeting organizers plan to escalate the issue to higher authorities, utilizing media channels and social media for public outreach to exert pressure on the concerned parties to urgently address the infrastructure problems in Hinjewadi IT hub.
