With the announcement of Maharashtra’s election dates on Tuesday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar asserted that he hasn’t aged and will continue his efforts, even at 84 or 90 years old, to steer the state in the right direction. Speaking to a crowd in Maharashtra, he mentioned seeing young supporters holding signs with his age, stating, “Don’t worry, we have a long journey ahead. This old man won’t stop. Regardless of whether I reach 84 or 90, I will keep working until Maharashtra is on the right path.” He also dismissed rumors of discord among the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition parties regarding the seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Assembly elections. The NCP (SP), led by Sharad Pawar, is part of the MVA alongside the Congress and the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).

Don’t take me lightly, says Eknath Shinde

In a recent address, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde warned opposition parties not to underestimate him. Referring to his beard, he remarked, “They took me lightly too. Don’t take the beard lightly. The beard has played a role in putting your MVA in a ditch. It brought down the current government. It takes courage to do that. It takes daring and a lot of guts.” This statement comes as the Election Commission announced dates for the Assembly polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand during a press conference. The current term of the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly is set to conclude on November 26.
