IAC India Finalizes Wage Hike Deal, Spreading Festive Cheer Among Chakan Plant Workers
BJP MLA Mahesh Landge Mediates Successful Wage Increase for Automotive Workers
Ahead of the festive season, a wage hike agreement was recently finalized at the Nighoje and Mahalunge plants of International Automotive Components India Private Limited, located in the Chakan Industrial Belt thanks to the mediation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Mahesh Landge. As per the agreement, permanent employees will receive an increment of ₹21,300, workers on the company’s roll will see a ₹2,500 increase, and contractual workers will receive an additional ₹1,250. This development has created a festive atmosphere among the employees, who celebrated by distributing sweets and bursting crackers.
According to sources, discussions regarding the fourth wage hike agreement took place between International Automotive Components India and the Swabhimani Shramik Kamgar Sanghatana at Hotel Kalasagar in Kasarwadi. The deal was signed in the presence of key representatives, including MLA Mahesh Landge, Swabhimani Shramik Kamgar Sanghatana leaders Rohidas Gade and President Jivan Yelwande, along with Managing Director Sunil Koparkar. The three-year agreement will be effective from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2027. Additionally, 65 contract workers who are also union members will be offered permanent positions. The absorbed workers will receive a ₹2,500 salary increase, while the remaining contract workers will get a raise of ₹1,250. The management has also promised to regularize more workers in future agreements.
The event was attended by General Secretary Krishna Rohokale, Secretary Raghunath More, Treasurer Amrut Chaudhary, and various union and management representatives, including Manager Dipali Khairnar, Aniket Nilekar, and others.
Key Terms of the Agreement:
Total Wage Hike: ₹21,300, with increments of 60% in the first year, 20% in the second year, and 20% in the third year.
Mediclaim Policy: Coverage of ₹3 lakh for one family member, totaling ₹12 lakh for four members (including spouse and children).
Death benefits: In the unfortunate event of a worker’s death, the company will collect one day’s wages from all workers and pay double that amount to the deceased’s heir.
Group Accident Policy: Compensation equivalent to 72 times the worker’s monthly gross salary will be provided to the legal heir in case of an accident.
Term Insurance Policy: In case of a worker’s natural or accidental death, the family will receive four times the annual gross salary.
Leave Policy: Workers are entitled to 21 paid leave days, 12 sick leaves, 12 casual leaves, and 11 public holidays, along with an election leave as per government orders.
Diwali Bonus: All workers will receive a Diwali bonus equivalent to 20% of their salary.
Annual get-together: An annual family get-together will be organized for all workers.
Variable Dearness Allowance: Provided as per government regulations.
Best Worker Awards: Two workers from each plant will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000 annually.
Service Bonus Scheme: A six-month salary differential will be included in the September salary.
The event commenced with a welcome speech by Anil Kumbhar and was compered by Puja Thigle. Amrut Chaudhari delivered the vote of thanks. This agreement marks a significant milestone, boosting morale and offering better financial stability for the workers at the Chakan plant.
