Colombo, Sep 11: Rain has stopped the reserve day’s play between India and Pakistan in the third Asia Cup Super 4 match at Premadasa Stadium here on Monday.

Chasing a mammoth 357 runs, Pakistan were 44/2 in 11 overs, needing 313 runs off the remaining 39 overs, when the rain stopped the game. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zamar are batting on 1 and 14, respectively.

Sent into bat, India piled on 356/2, thanks to sparkling unbeaten centuries by Virat Kohli (122) and KL Rahul (111), before Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on a century opening partnership after notching up superb half-tons. Both Virat and Rahul put on an unconquered 200-plus partnership for the third wicket.

In a riveting spell of pace and swing bowling, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya had opener Imam-ul-Haq caught by Shubman Gill in the slips for 9 and Babar Azam clean bowled 10 with 2 boundaries in 24 balls.

For a reminder, to get a result via DRS, Pakistan need to have batted at least 20 overs. And if the match does not resume, India and Pakistan will share points.Â
