India has confirmed its first case of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), with an eight-month-old baby testing positive in Bengaluru. According to reports, the child, who has no travel history, is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. The baby is exhibiting symptoms such as persistent fever and body aches, and the virus was detected during routine blood tests.
While the Karnataka Health Department has yet to officially confirm the case, sources told Zee News that samples will be sent to Pune for further analysis to identify the variant of the virus. This development comes amid a rise in HMPV cases in China.
