In a significant move towards inclusivity, IndiGo has introduced a new ‘MX’ option for passengers booking flight tickets. This third option, in addition to ‘Male’ and ‘Female’, aims to accommodate individuals who prefer not to disclose their gender identity.

Sukhjit Pasricha, Chief Officer of IndiGo’s Human Resource Department, stated that this decision aligns with the airline’s policy of inclusiveness. IndiGo joins other airlines like Air India Express and Vistara in offering this option.

The move is part of IndiGo’s efforts to increase diversity and inclusion, particularly for the LGBTQ community. The airline is working with recruitment agencies specializing in LGBTQ employees and offering benefits like health insurance for live-in partners.

IndiGo, which dominates the domestic aviation sector with a 62% share, has a workforce of 36,860 permanent employees, including 5,038 pilots and 9,363 cabin crew. The airline is committed to merit-based recruitment and plans to double the number of disabled employees in the coming year.
