Indo - Japan Education Conference to be held in Pune on November 24

Pune, November 17: Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai and the Indo – Japan Business Council are jointly organizing the Indo – Japan Education Conference in Pune on 24th November 2023. 

The conference will be held at the Swami Vivekanand Auditorium, MIT World Peace University, Kothrud, Pune and the timing of the same would be 9:30am to 4:00pm. The conference is supported by Japan Foundation, New Delhi and MIT WPU. 

Entry to this conference is free for the students, parents, faculty members and researchers. Prior registration is required to be done on www.educon.ijbc.org for participating in this conference.

The conference will be inaugurated at the hands of Toshihiro Kaneko, Deputy Chief of Missions, Consulate General of Japan in Mumbai. Rahul Karad, Managing Trustee & Executive President, MIT Group of Institutions would be the Guest of honour for the inauguration function along with Dr. R. M. Chitnis, Vice Chancellor of MIT WPU. Toshihiro Kaneko will deliver the keynote address during the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking about the conference Siddharth Deshmukh, Co-Founder and President of the Indo Japan Business Council (IJBC) said, “This conference is an attempt to create a platform which can help Indian students to identify the openings in the education sector in Japan. It will showcase the plethora of opportunities that Japan has to offer to the Indian students, researchers and academicians. This is the second edition of the conference and due to response received for the previous one it is being scaled up this year.”

“The principal objective of this education conference is to kick start the process of fostering university ties, facilitating student exchange programs, endorsing research & development and promoting academic excellence in arts and humanities, culture, economics, management, science and technology. The Higher Education and Research Committee of IJBC has made a special effort to bring some of the best universities from Japan to Pune for this conference including the University of Tokyo, Asia Pacific University (APU), International University of Japan (IUJ), Kansai University, Shimane University”, he added.

Speaking about hosting the Indo-Japan Education Conference, Ravikumar Chitnis, Vice Chancellor, MIT WPU, Pune said, “MIT WPU is glad to host this Indo-Japan Education Conference as this gives students from in and around Pune a wider perspective of the education offered in Japan. To formalize this, we will also be opening the Japan Facilitation Center at MIT WPU during the inauguration ceremony of the conference.”

Subjects like education and career in Japan, dynamics of India-Japan partnership, research and scholarship opportunities, admission procedure, India Japan collaboration in engineering research would be touched upon through presentations and case studies from IIT Delhi, Kyoto University, Kyushu University and JNU.
